Yapi English CommunityOn Thursday,november 12th ‘09
We are the members of YEC (Yapi English Community). Left from yapi going to pare with a van. We started from our school, al-ma’hadul islami on about 09.45. we spent more than 2 hours on the way before we arrived there twelve o’clock.
First time we got there, directly we took a momment to find some english courses place. The Daffodils was the first course we visited. There, we met mrs. Indah (the teacher and also the runner of the course) who told us about her experience and motivated us too. She said we just need to be used in speaking english. She explained us about some programs in the Daffodils. They are:

  • Persentation: In this program, the students are supposed to move in front of the classroom, witnessed by every student. And explain what they have got.
  • Discussion: In this program, the students must  make a team and discuss of their problems in english definetly.
  • Debating: In this program, the students debate to each other in a case they set.
  • Music: In this program, the students can sing some songs, and finally they have to find out the meaning of the lyrics.

Yapi English CommunityAll of the programs are in purpose to increase the students ability exactly in pronunciation, and absolutely to make the students more fluent in english. For Example, when we sing a song, we have to know the meaning first, and know how to read it.
Then at 03.00pm, after we had lunch, we still walked around pare looking for other courses. Like grammatical, TOEFL,speaking education, and so on. Before, we visited a public library which provided us many kinds of book, to make us easier in learning english.
BEC(Basic english course) was the second course we visited. The main purpose of it is to increase the students ability in speaking also gramming. There, we met mrs.Yuni, one of the course staff, who told us about the BEC program such as:

  • Speaking with right grammar.
  • Sharing problem with one another.

By this way, the students can get closer to each other in a short time. Also improving their english conversation.
When we asked about how to motivate us and enjoy with english, she said, “when i get it, i remember it, i apply it in all aspects. Not english only, in math, phyisics, biology and many other lessons too”. Then She said , “and don’t be afraid to keep speaking english”.
In the night, we were picked up by “ikhwan syiah”, (a man with his car) to attend for reading kumayl together (such a ritual of syi’i wich held in every Thursday night). We were so greeted there, and the ikhwan was so friendly to us. We were invited for dinner too, “PECEL KHAS PARE” was the most delicious meal we’d ever had there. And perfectly, it’s so unforgetable.
Finally, at 08.30pm the ritual was done. And we were taken back to the camp and went sleep.

On Friday, november 13th ’09
After we performed dawn prayer, we had kinda’ sport by renting “ONTHEL KEBO” (traditional bicycle). we rolled around the village with those ridicolous and acient bikes. We had a lot of fun together. And after, we came back to the camp, preparing to go around again, making more discussions with several taechers in several courses in pare. At 10.04, still with “onthel kebo”, we found one of the best courses in pare, named “ELFAST COURSE”. There, we met a tall man as the master of the course named mr.Andre, he explained us many things, and he answered us for some questions. Besides, he has some good programs too, it is:
•    Prefer grammar with practically.
He said: “when you have a good basic aplication, then you will get the theory is easier”. So it means, that if we get more speaking guidance (pronunciation),  automatically the grammar will be easier.
And then, when we asked about how to motivate our english, he said, “first, you must love it, then you must have big spirit. Not only in english, but in other lessons”. “I believe you will reach your dream, if you just trust my opinion”.
Next, we asked again about how to make the students interested in our lesson, he said again, “you must have four capacities, those are:
•    Performance
•    Material management
•    Class management
•    Orientation of their future”.

Then, if you want to be a teacher, you must complete these requirements:
•    Conceptor, stepping program.
•    Motivator,  always giving motivation.
•    Performing, class performance.

So that, we agreed to his opinion, and we will make a program as he told us. He also said, that introducing english with fun teaching makes them know, that english is not too difficult.
At 11.09, we went out from ELFAST, we were still exploring pare and seeking more course places. And we found, Kresna English Competent. When we arrived there, we were shocked that they were studying outdoor, outside rooms. They think this way is more comfortable and freshing their mind, with the natural views. The KEC programs are to make the students fluent in grammar and translation. This is we got from KEC:

  • Translation
  • TOEFL
  • Gramatical program

Actually, KEC just prioritates the grammatical concept to make our english better. So that will make us easier to take part in TOEFL test and get perfect result. Finally at 11.45 we finished our research in pare, and we go back to the camp, preparing to go back to our beloved school...^_^

The End...

The Seven Hidden Values of Homework
Pencinta YAPI (125.164.105.xxx) 02-12-2009 10:50:25

The Seven Hidden Values of Homework
1. Responsibility: Homework is the
child’s responsibility. When parents get too involved they deny the child the
opportunity to take responsibility. The homework task may get done but the real
lessons do not get learned.
2. Independence: Because this is the first time
that someone other than a parent assigns frequent tasks to the child, homework
breaks new ground. How this golden opportunity is handled will enhance or
detract from the child’s progress toward self-direction.
3. Perseverance:
There is no point to a child doing homework, if every time the gets frustrated,
parents step right in and take over. It is alright to let the child struggle a
little with a problem or task.
4. Time management: Children need to be told
when to finish homework, not when to start it. That way, instead of learning to
waste time, the child learns to manage it efficiently.
5. Initiative: Like a
